Satellite

While the majority of IoT networks is terrestrial, IoT applications also provide various opportunities for established and newfound satellite operators, especially in connecting remote areas that lack terrestrial infrastructure. Opportunities range from selling additional capacity on GEO (geostationary) satellites in C-, Ku- and Ka-band for direct or backhaul connectivity to deploying new LEO (low earth orbit) or HEO (highly elliptical orbit) constellations, optimized for the IoT market.

GETTING STARTED

 Solution Details :

  •  IoTivty has partnered with Sky and Space Global for IoT application in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Myanmar, Indonesia.
  •  The solution is fully developed and three satellites have already been launched into orbit as a proof of concept.
  •  First company (SAS) in the world to build and operate a commercial telecom network via nanosats.
  •  First phase commercial launch is planned to January 2020. Initial focus on IoT service under global coverage.
  •  First phase will provide global coverage service at least 4 times a day from 60N to 60S latitude.
  •  Altitude of satellites will be 600 km, high inclination orbit.
  •  Second phase will include 200 satellites covering 15-18 degrees North and South of the Equator.
  •  Altitude of 700-750 km, inclination 0-13 degrees.
  •  Orbit in 5 distinct planes at different altitudes.
  •  44 nanosats in each plane with a distance of ~1000km between each.
  •  Each satellite functions as both a node and a router which is the building block for an efficient mesh network.
  •  Utilizes traditional cellular network management algorithms combined with Inter-satellite links and ground stations to create a complete network in space.
